Tennis Season Fast Approaching! Wimbledon Tickets Available.
For all those that pack their tennis kit away as we hit winter, well time to start digging your kit out! Well ok perhaps a little while to go but it won't be long.
Friday 17th February is the last day to get your BTM (British Tennis Membership) registered and if already registered to opt into the Wimbledon Ballot. If you 'opt in' the club gets allocated more tickets and you can enter the club draw for those tickets. Follow this link and get it done : https://www.lta.org.uk/member/login
Few things to keep you in the loop on:
Summer League Teams - we have entered 8 teams in the senior leagues - 4 x men and 4 x ladies. We have entered 12 teams in the juniors. Matches for the adults are generally on a Friday evening and start in early May. The ladies are always very organised getting their ladies practice in early; in fact they are already at it on a Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 8.00pm.
The men are looking to step up the practice this year and the most likely night will be Monday night again starting about mid March. Anyone who has not previously played league for BSTC then please get in touch with Lyn Jones ( florincottage@gmail.com ) or David Tonkin (tonkin.dj@gmail.com) depending on your preference!
Key Dates for your diary:
Friday 17th March - Beer, Curry and Tennis Night starts at 7.30pm. Please register with Mark Hunter (mhunter@hunteraccountants.co.uk). Even if the tennis is not awesome I know the curry will be!
Saturday 22nd April - Wimbledon Ballot, 4pm in the clubhouse.
Monday 24th April - Tennis AGM at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. Come and hear what your Committee has been up to and pose any questions or ideas that you have. We are always looking for Committee helpers and this year we will say thank you to Tamara Crampton who has played a solid anchor role on the accounts, and we will be looking for a new "numbers" person. If you are interested then please let David Tonkin know.
Sunday May 21st - Great British Tennis Weekend - we will be running our highly successful and much fun open day. Get the date in the diary and let your friends know.
Sunday September 10th - Club Finals Day, tennis, bbq, and much more. Reserve the day now.
Membership Renewal:
Within the week Claire will be sending invites from ClubSpark to renew your membership for the year ahead. The membership year starts on 1st March. If you pay before 1st April you get a discount.

We have spent some time looking at the comparative rates for a country tennis club membership and have satisfied ourselves that Bishop Sutton provides exceptional value for money. The increase in subscription rates will allow us to continue maintaining and developing our club facilities to a high standard. We have decided to create a Couple Membership to recognise the extra value that Family Membership provides. So for those couples who have no children or their children are now out of education the Couples Membership will be better option than their current Family Membership.
Club House
The committee are looking for some helpers to look at how we can improve the club house, and make it a more comfortable environment. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed. The coffee/tuck shop on a Saturday morning has been sporadic but on the days held it has improved the ambience of the club.
